Saint Daniel and his companions were Franciscan missionaries who traveled to North Africa to proclaim the Catholic faith. They sought to imitate the apostles through poverty, prayer, and courageous preaching of Jesus Christ.

Daniel and his companions were put to death at Ceuta in 1227 because they refused to abandon the Gospel. The Church honors them as missionary martyrs whose witness entrusted the work of evangelization to the grace of God.
