Saint Thomas de Cantilupe was an English bishop of Hereford, canon lawyer, and defender of the rights of the Church. He served as Chancellor of England before becoming a bishop and was respected for his learning, discipline, and care for the poor.

Thomas worked to reform diocesan life, strengthen the clergy, and protect the faithful entrusted to him. After his death, many were drawn to his tomb in Hereford, and Pope John XXII canonized him in 1320.
