Saint Olga of Kiev was a ruler of Kievan Rus who received baptism and became one of the earliest prominent Christian leaders of the region. After the death of her husband, she governed with intelligence and firmness while seeking a just order for her people.

Olga traveled to Constantinople and was baptized, taking the Christian name Helena. Although the conversion of Rus was completed later through her grandson, Saint Vladimir, Olga prepared the way by her own faith and example.
