Saint Ansfried of Utrecht was a nobleman and military leader who became a bishop and servant of the Church. As Bishop of Utrecht, he worked for peace, cared for the poor, and supported the spiritual and material needs of his people. When blindness weakened him, he withdrew to the monastery of Hohorst and completed his life in prayer.
