Saint Patermutius was an Egyptian monk and hermit of the early Christian desert. He left behind the attractions of the world to seek God in solitude, prayer, fasting, and obedience.

Ancient accounts remember Patermutius for his penitential life and his dedication to the ascetic tradition that helped form Christian monasticism. Through his example, he encouraged the faithful to seek conversion of heart and complete dependence upon Divine Providence.
