Saint Szymon of Lipnica was a Polish priest of the Order of Friars Minor who became known for his preaching, learning, and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Born in Lipnica Murowana, he studied at the University of Kraków and entered the Franciscan observance.

He preached the Gospel faithfully and served the poor and sick of Kraków during an outbreak of plague. After contracting the disease while caring for the afflicted, Szymon died on July 18, 1482. He was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI in 2007.
