Saint Rafaela Maria Porras y Ayllón was a Spanish religious sister and foundress of the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Born in Pedro Abad, she was drawn from an early age to prayer, Eucharistic adoration, and service to the Church.
With her sister Dolores, she helped establish a congregation devoted to the public worship of the Blessed Sacrament, the education of young women, and the formation of lay people in Christian spirituality. Rafaela accepted misunderstanding and hidden suffering with humility and trust in God. She died in Rome on January 6, 1925, and was canonized by Pope Paul VI in 1977.
