Saint Nunzio Sulprizio was an Italian young worker who sanctified suffering through patient faith and confidence in God. Orphaned at an early age, he was mistreated while working in a blacksmith’s shop and suffered a serious infection in his leg.
During long periods of illness and hospitalization, Nunzio deepened his love for the Eucharist, prayer, and the suffering Christ. He encouraged other patients and accepted his trials with extraordinary gentleness. He died in Naples on May 5, 1836, and was canonized by Pope Francis on October 14, 2018.
