Saint Agricius was the first historically documented Bishop of Trier and a courageous shepherd of the Church in the early fourth century. He took part in the Council of Arles in 314, where the bishops defended the unity of the Church and addressed the wounds caused by persecution and division.

As bishop, Agricius strengthened the Christian community of Trier and helped establish its reputation as an important center of faith and learning. He is remembered for his fidelity to the apostolic faith and for laying foundations upon which the Church of Trier continued to grow.
