Saint Abo of Tiflis was a Christian martyr of Arab origin who bore witness to Christ in eighth-century Georgia. Born in Baghdad, he came to Tiflis in the service of the Georgian prince Nerses and later embraced the Christian faith.
After returning to Tiflis, Abo openly confessed Christ despite pressure to renounce the faith. He encouraged the local Christians by his courage and was imprisoned and martyred on January 6, 786. The Church honors him as a model of conversion, steadfast faith, and Christian witness.
