Saint Maria Troncatti was an Italian religious sister of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians who served for many years as a missionary in Ecuador. Born in Corteno Golgi, she entered religious life with a strong desire to share the Gospel and to serve the sick and the poor.
In the Ecuadorian mission of the Shuar people, she worked as a nurse, catechist, and peacemaker, bringing practical charity and the consoling presence of Christ to communities in difficult circumstances. She died in Sucúa, Ecuador, on August 25, 1969, and was canonized by Pope Leo XIV on October 19, 2025.
