Saint Giuseppe Allamano was an Italian diocesan priest who devoted his life to the renewal of priestly formation and to the evangelization of peoples who had not yet heard the Gospel. Born in Castelnuovo Don Bosco, he served for many years as rector of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Consolation in Turin.
With a deep love for the Church’s missionary mandate, he founded the Consolata Missionaries for men and women. Through prayer, formation, and generous missionary service, he helped carry the Gospel to Africa and other mission territories. He died in Turin on February 16, 1926, and was canonized by Pope Francis on October 20, 2024.
