Facts
Hermit who lived unknown in a small hut, a calybe, on his parents' estate. He was born in Constantinople to a wealthy family at Gomon on the Bosporus and became a hermit at the age of twelve. After six years at Gomon he returned to his family's estate as a beggar. Given a small calybe, he became famous for his prayers and penances, residing there until his death when his identity was at last revealed to his mother.
