Abbot who defended the faith against the Arian Emperor Valens. He narrowly escaped death, being arrested but then set free when Valens was killed at the battle of Adrianople in 378 by the Visioths, Isaac founded a monastery in Constantinople, modern Istanbul, Turkey. He also attended the second General Council of Constantinople in 381.
