For the third quarter in a row Netflix added more subscribers from outside the United States than in, 2.4 million abroad vs just 1.9 million at home.
By the end of the first quarter of 2015, Netflix expects to have about 61 million subscribers worldwide.
Reed Hastings, the Netflix CEO, said that growth overseas has outgrown expectations, and the company is expanding much faster than they had anticipated previously.
"Our international expansion strategy over the last few years has been to expand as fast as we can while staying profitable on a global basis," he said. "Progress has been so strong that we now believe we can complete our global expansion over the next two years, while staying profitable, which is earlier than we expected. We then intend to generate material global profits from 2017 onwards."

Hastings says that Netflix is going to be targeting Australia and New Zealand next, as well as "modest" options in pursuing markets in China.
"With the growth of the Internet over the next 20 years, there will be some amazing entertainment services available globally," Hastings wrote in a briefing. "We intend to be one of the leaders."
