We ask you, urgently: don't scroll past this
Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.Help Now >

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Project Glass is Google's attempt to put the internet before your eyes - hands free. Users wear special glasses that project the internet onto lenses. The overlay can provide directions, weather forecasts, and even messages from friends. Users can communicate with the glasses by speaking.
Google envisions the glasses being used to provide guided tours, customized shopping experiences and of course, marketing. Naturally, users will be served offers and ads based on their location.
The glasses will also be useful for real estate. Instead of using QR codes to share selling points with clients, now those clients can see and hear relevant details and information, and even get decorating tips in the process.
So far, Google is testing the concept, but it if proves practical it could change the way we interact with the world around us.
Google posted a film on Google+ to promote the project. They demonstrate the glasses warning a user about a chance of rain, suspended subway service and other location specific alerts delivered with the aid of an embedded GPS chip.
According to the New York Times, a user will even be able to take photos wearing the glasses with an option to share the image with friends.
Google has said the glasses will soon see public testing with members of the Google putting them on and venturing into public for serious trials.
Although the glasses are not commercially available, they could be within a short time. Google traditionally focuses on developing products that can be brought to market in short order. The likely price range is said to be around $250 - $600.
