STATE COLLEGE, PA (Catholic Online) - Jerry Sandusky was rearrested from his State College, Pa., home and was booked into county jail after he was unable to come up with $250,000 cash for bail. His attorney, Joe Amendola said they were working to post bail and have Jerry released sometime tomorrow.
Police drove to Sandusky's house in four unmarked cars and arrested him without incident. Attorney General Linda Kelly said in a statement, "Today's criminal charges were recommended by a statewide investigating grand jury, based on evidence and testimony that was received following the initial arrest of Sandusky on November 5."
On Nov. 5, Sandusky was charged with sexually assaulting eight boys who were all met through The Second Mile, an organization he helped establish to aid disadvantaged youth. In every case, prosecutors allege, Sandusky groomed the victims with outings and gifts. Later, the attention became physical and developed into sexual assaults once trust was established.
According to the grand jury report, one of the new victims was groomed by Sandusky and eventually invited to spend the night at his house. At that time, he was instructed to sleep in the basement where Sandusky forced him into both oral and anal sex. The boy told the jury that he screamed for help, but that none came, despite the fact that Sandusky's wife was upstairs.
Sandusky refused any questions following his Wednesday arrest, and his attorney expressed dismay that Sandusky was arrested without warning. "I'm very disappointed by the latest tactics of the Attorney General's Office by going to Jerry's house unannounced without so much as giving me a courtesy call as his attorney," Amendola said in a statement.
