LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - All of the prayers, devotions, the donations, the marches and the education may soon pay off. The pending retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy is giving pro-life advocates their best hope yet that abortion will be ended in the United States.

About twenty percent of pregnancies end with the untimely death of the baby due to abortion. That's about one every 30 seconds in America. The practice is worth an estimated one billion dollars in revenues for Planned Parenthood, one of the largest providers of abortion, abortifacients, and contraceptives in the nation.

The problem with abortion is that it kills children. In the United States, it kills more than one million children each year. As Christians, we believe that life begins at conception, therefore no person has the right to terminate a pregnancy, just as no person as the right to kill another. Abortion advocates insist that abortion is a women's rights issue. As Christians we agree --except we believe that the best way to protect women's rights is to not kill them before birth. Outlawing abortion does not take away a woman's right to choose, but rather ensures it. As for pregnancy, the time for choosing is after marriage and prior to sex.

The fact that people do not wish to behave in moral fashion does not change the scientific fact that a unique, new human life begins at conception.

Since 1973, millions of children have been aborted, about half of them girls who today could have been great young women.

It is a foregone conclusion that President Trump will nominate a pro-life justice to the court. This will ensure that a challenge to Roe v. Wade will be given a hearing, and could be overturned. That result will send abortion back to the states to decide.

Liberal states like California and New York will likely keep abortion, whereas more conservative states will end or curtail the practice. The result will be more children will have a chance at life.

For pro-life advocates, this is the best chance we have seen in more than 44 years. Of course, the practice will not end. Fights will continue across the country, but the end of Roe v. Wade will be a big step in the right direction.
