Obama's legacy? Good riddance to the most anti-Catholic president in decades
FREE Catholic Classes
Nobody knows what is going to happen to Obama's legacy. He is credited with Obamacare, with saving the auto industry, and with creating jobs, and a resurgent economy. Osama bin Laden was killed on his watch. But much of his work was accomplished through executive orders. What will become of these orders when Donald Trump takes office? In another four years, what will be left of Obama?
Catholics are likely to remember Obama's legacy as one of conflict with the Church.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) -- Nobody can answer the question of what will happen to Obama's legacy. The person with the most power is Donald Trump, who can repeal all of Obama's executive orders.
Obama's eight years in office were especially contentious, and Congress consistently refused to cooperate with his agenda. The result what Obama ruled though edict rather than through Congress.
Obama can claim as a legacy the reversal of the Great Recession, Obamacare, and economic improvement. However, these accomplishments are quite controversial.
The Great Recession ended for Wall Street within a matter of months, but it is only now ending for Main Street. Why did this supposed man of the people leave the people behind for so long?
Obamacare helped extend insurance coverage to millions of poor people, including the unemployed, but it also made insurance very expensive for everyone. The middle class in particular, which is the working backbone of the nation, has suffered immensely.
Obamacare also has a number of provisions which have proved controversial, including the mandate that religious employers must pay for their employees' contraceptives. In fact, Obama may be one of the most anti-Catholic presidents in decades. He routinely challenged the Church on several issues, suing nuns, and other Christian organizations for the act of being Catholic.
Obama's anti-Catholic edicts were tantamount to ordering Muslims to eat pork.
Obama is also responsible for saving the auto industry, yet that industry as well as the banking industry, passed its costs back to consumers. So it was taxpayers who both bailed out the banks and auto companies, and paid twice for the privilege.
The economy seems to be growing, but it is doing so in spite of Obama, and not necessarily because of him.
Obama also faced several scandals from Soylandra, to Fast and Furious to the IRS targeting of conservative groups and personalities.
He will not face investigation or prosecution, but his legacy is certainly tainted by these scandals.
Other ongoing crises include rampant violence in Chicago, a spike in drug abuse, illegal immigration and terrorism, which has spread around the world on his watch.
Perhaps the greatest Obama legacy is also his worst. He is widely viewed as soft-spoken and ineffective. He is widely disrespected on the international stage. Trump may also struggle with making friends in the international community, but they will respect him. Trump's willingness to put the nation first and to govern based on sound business principles is a major departure from Obama.

If Trump begins reversing Obama's policies and he succeeds, not only will Obama's legacy be trashed, but Trump may guarantee a second term for himself.
Obama will return to the streets of Chicago soon, and live in a mansion behind a wall he is having built, and you taxpayers are paying for. He might not care much about his legacy. The good news is most Americans don't seem to care either.
