LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - There are 820,000 criminal aliens in the USA according to the Migration Policy Institute. A criminal alien is a person who was convicted of an additional crime committed after their arrival in the country. It is understood that entering the country without permission is a crime, but this is minor in comparison to any subsequent felonies.
Many of those crimes are quite serious by all comparison. They include rape, murder, assault, burglary, as well as gun and drug charges. Some of the crimes can still be misdemeanors, such as some drug offenses, or thefts, but even those are considered serious by objective standards.
These people are not here to make a better life for themselves, or to support their families by any reasonable, lawful means. Instead, these people have decided to prey upon others to facilitate their well-being. Instead of working and abiding peacefully, they are breaking the law.
No American would enjoy the same kindness from their captors, should they visit another country and commit crimes. Americans have been imprisoned for lengthy sentences overseas when they commit crimes in other countries. In many cases, merely attempting to cross the border into another country can result in a hefty punishment. In uncommon cases, illegal immigration can result in death.
But in the United States, illegal aliens, and criminal aliens are coddled and treated with undeserved privilege.
Illegal aliens break the law to enter the country. They have no right to be here, or to access the benefits paid by our taxpayers. They have fundamental human rights, and are entitled to the same treatment anyone else would expect while abroad, but to afford them anymore is to punish those who enter the country legally, waiting their turn in line.
The only exception to this rule is for asylum seekers, people who are fleeing oppression and whose lives may be endangered in their country of origin. Even then, those seeking asylum should not expect full admittance until they can be vetted and verified.
For the first time in decades, the USA has a president-elect who promises to defend our borders and to deport criminal aliens en masse. It is hoped that by deporting all of these criminals we will not have to suffer their release onto American streets where they will just re-offend.
There should be no shame in upholding a just law.
