Is Covered California website broken? How can we trust the government with healthcare when they can't get a website right?

Three years after launch, Covered California still isn't up to par. But sure, let government manage YOUR healthcare.

Obamacare is so broken, you can't even sign up for it in California. That's what millions of people are finding out as they try in vain to apply for Obamacare on the Covered California website. A review of the Covered California Facebook page reveals a litany of complaints as frustrated users try to make their voices heard.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - Obamacare is so flawed that many Californians cannot even sign up for it, at least not online. The Covered California website has been broken since Nov. 1, and the agency has offered no meaningful acknowledgement.

Millions of people who click the apply button are taken to a blank webpage. A chat with a representative returned the stock reply that the site is experiencing heavy volume. However, the blank page appears no matter what hour of the day a person attempts to log on.

The Facebook page for Covered California reveals the frustration millions are feeling.

"Has anyone who works for Covered Ca actually navigated the website? Who is in charge of developing this thing? I have been on it an hour and still can't figure out how much I will pay next year. I am too busy answering stupid questions that I have already answered before!"

"UNAFFORDABLE WHEN IT COST MORE THEN MY CAR NOTE AND CAR INSURANCE PUT TOGETHER"

"How much is the fine for 2017? That's were I'm headed I think."

"I'd love to apply but when I log in, both on my computer and on my phone, it refuses to load the next page. I have reloaded, I have waited, nothing. You should have better anticipated the high traffic on day 1 of open enrollment. I had issues with you 2 years ago, but thought I'd give you another shot. So far I'm not impressed."

It's difficult to believe the site is experiencing high volume when nobody can use it. The kindly replies undoubtedly tapped out by a frustrated minion only add to the frustration so that silence would probably be better.

"Hi Kate, we apologize for the difficulties, and appreciate your feedback. As you acknowledged, our site is experiencing unusually high traffic. Please try again soon, or through a different browser. If you continue experiencing problems, please meet with a local Certified Insurance Expert for free, personalized assistance."

Frustrated users are being shunted to the phone service or "certified agents" when the entire purpose of website enrollment is to help people avoid human interaction and wait times. Naturally, this is supremely frustrating.

Both Clinton and Trump have acknowledged the failure of Obamacare. Just because more people have coverage does not mean the program is a success. The expense of that coverage means millions of Americans are being squeezed in other areas of their lives. All Obamacare has done is transfer the pain and expense of living from one area to the next. How does a person repair their car when their insurance premium eats the required funds?

At least they can probably talk to someone about their frustration now and take pills for it.

The notion that we are ready for single-payer insurance is gaining widespread attention. Yet how can the government justify trust with healthcare when they cannot even get a website right?
