Trump is right, Obama has failed on ISIS

Donald Trump blames President Barack Obama for ISIS. He has even gone so far as to refer to him as the "founder." While it is impossible to believe Obama founded the organization, it is easy to blame him for its continued existence.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - In an interview with Hugh Hewitt, Donald Trump said Obama was the founder of ISIS.
"No, I meant he's the founder of ISIS. I do. He was the most valuable player. I give him the most valuable player award. I give her too, by the way, Hillary Clinton."
Hewitt warned Trump that he was playing loose with words and that his opponents could use the statement against him, which they now have. Nevertheless, Trump replied, "I don't care. He was the founder. His, the way he got out of Iraq was that that was the founding of ISIS, okay?"
Despite Trump's words, the Republican candidate is largely correct. President Obama is responsible for ISIS, at least to a significant degree.
Obama has had nearly eight years to deal with middle eastern terrorism. He has had an entire term of office to deal with ISIS. And despite the administration's claim to have killed thousands of terrorists, ISIS remains as strong today as ever.
After two terms as president, Obama's only arguable
achievement has been to contain ISIS, not destroy it.
While this is not the same as creating ISIS, it is far from demonstrating the leadership that once made the USA exceptional. Instead of leading the fight and rallying the world to eliminate ISIS, Obama has responded with half measures. Meanwhile, millions of people have died, Christians have been exterminated, and terrorism has spread.
Donald Trump may not be exactly right in attributing the foundation of ISIS to Obama, but he is correct about the MVP award. Obama has done a lot to contribute to the success and spread of ISIS, either by direct action or ineptitude. If we care about destroying ISIS, then we must first change our strategy.
