Tyranny by Obama's hand? 18.7 million immigrants not required to take Oath of Allegiance
FREE Catholic Classes
Under Obama, immigrants are now exempted from joining the military in the event of a draft. Until now, legal immigrants have been required to pledge to serve in the military if needed, like any other citizen must do. Now, they no longer have to do so, or even state why.
We ask you, humbly: don't scroll away.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - Using his executive authority, President Obama has exempted millions from a key part of the Oath of Allegiance.
A year ago, Obama quietly changed the Oath of Allegiance, removing the part in which the new citizen pledges to "bear arms on behalf of the United States."
Historically, immigrants have served in our military, and even today, thousands of U.S. military personnel are immigrants who want to aid and serve their adopted homeland.
During the world wars and protracted conflicts of the 20th century, immigrants were expected to serve the same as any other citizens; however, without any consultation with Congress, Obama has omitted this requirement.
The change could impact some 18.7 million immigrants who are in the country legally and are on the path to citizenship.
Not only are these people exempt from mandatory military service, they will not even have to cite a religious reason why.
This change literally creates a class of specially privileged citizens, who are legally able to shirk a major responsibility of citizenship, all thanks to another special class of citizens who routinely shirk their responsibilities too -the political class.
Obama made this change in June 2015. A year later, neither Congress nor the Senate have done anything about it.
Governors and Attorneys General of twenty-six U.S. states, however, have stepped up to form a lawsuit which ended in a tie-vote from the Supreme Court, effectively voiding Obama's amnesty.
Legally, Obama's actions cannot be challenged in federal court as unelected bureaucrats at the US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) have the power to change the Naturalization process.
Congress can change the law to take control of the Oath of Allegiance but they didn't when Obama first made the change and there is no indication it will do so now.
As Tom Tancredo of Breitbart News wrote: "Some Americans see great irony in the British declaring their independence from the tyranny of Brussels while Americans quietly accept the new tyranny of Washington, DC."
