Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.Help Now >

If you receive disability for a psychological condition, prepare to be reported to the FBI. In a new bid to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill, the Obama administration intends to place everybody with a mental disability into an FBI database.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - Thanks to a presidential memorandum from Obama, issued in 2013, millions of Americans will soon lose their right to own a firearm. This week, the Social Security Administration proposed a rule in the Federal Register to warn those who receive social security benefits for mental disabilities. They will be given an opportunity to appeal their placement on an FBI watchlist. They will be banned from purchasing firearms.
A similar proposal has been enacted by the Department for Veteran Affairs (VA).
The problem is, what constitutes a mental disability? And do all mental impairments also affect judgment or safety? According to Church Grassley (R-IO), veterans are being added to the list because they have trouble managing their own finances.
About 99 percent of the people on the list are veterans, according to Grassley.
Disorders can vary widely and can include people with substance abuse problems, anxiety, and depression.
The ultimate goal seems to be to make it nearly impossible for people to own firearms. And without so much as a criminal conviction, to render vast numbers of the American people without arms.
The right to own a firearm is an important hedge against tyranny. As the elites consolidate their power over the government, they also seek to minimize the chances of losing that power. By disarming the American people, they assure themselves safety and security, no matter how bad things get.
It's impossible to defend letting a crazed or violent person have access to a firearm. But it's also insane to allow the government to disarm the people by vague degrees so that eventually nobody can enjoy the one right that has ultimately assured all the others.
