LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - Donald Trump is climbing in the polls and is expected to win enough votes to secure his party's nomination in June. Trump is already two million votes ahead of where Mitt Romney was in 2008.
Trump has received 8,776,586 votes to date, and Romney received 6,6452,029 by this time in 2008.
Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton's unavailability rating continues to climb and she hasn't even faced a proper Republican rival yet. Over half of all Americans view Clinton unfavorably. About a quarter to a third of her rival's supporters say they refuse to vote for her in the general election. And Clinton fares poorly with independents, which are actually the largest bloc of voters.
While Republicans are eager to halt their own front-runner, because he appears to buck the establishment, this is precisely what the people are demanding, and it may be Trump's largest asset.
Republicans are hoping to use party rules and obscure procedures to usurp the people's choice, but such antics are persuading millions that the final vote should be a popular vote among the people, and not something engineered by a political machine.
