LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - Vladimir Putin has praised Donald Trump during a news conference on Thursday, saying, "He is a bright and talented person without any doubt ... An outstanding and talented personality."
Putin has acknowledged that Trump is "the absolute leader of the presidential race."
Trump responded, "It is always a great honor to be so nicely complimented by a man so highly respected within his own country and beyond. I have always felt that Russia and the United States should be able to work well with each other towards defeating terrorism and restoring world peace, not to mention trade and all of the other benefits derived from mutual respect."
Both Putin and Trump are aggressive men, and it is theorized the two would get along well because they would appreciate one another. Putin has often been criticized for being blunt and "macho." Putin is known as a hunter and outdoorsman. He has a reputation as a fighter, likely to engage physically as well as politically.
Both Trump and Putin are simplistic in their worldviews, something that would allow the men to see things similarly, and to use the same language. This would be a welcome refreshment to Putin who often believes politicians over-complicate the obvious.
Trump believes that while he and Putin are different in many respects, diplomatically they could work together to find solutions to problems that plague both countries. One could almost see a division of the world into two spheres, as it was during the Cold War and the two leaders promoting détente.
Stable relations between the USA and Russia could lead to a new era of world peace with the two superpowers working together to keep terrorists in check, rouge states in line, and preventing disputes by diplomacy instead of conflict.
Earlier in the year, Trump suggested the U.S. should allow Russia to take a leading role in Syria, a commentary that was welcomed by Putin. "Russia wants to get rid of ISIS. We want to get rid of ISIS. Maybe let Russia do it. Let them get rid of ISIS. What the hell do we care?" Trump remarked.
Trump remains the Republican frontrunner, but will have to defeat Hillary in November in what is certain to be a massive political fight.
