Kim Davis is made a fool by protestors who took to the internet

Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis has been sent to jail following her refusal to marry same-sex couples.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (Catholic Online) - As reported by NBC, Davis was found in contempt of court Thursday morning because she claimed marriage licenses for gay and lesbian couples "violate[s] God's definition of marriage."

Davis was in tears as she admitted to District Court Judge David Bunning that she couldn't comply with orders to grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

Bunning said Davis is bound by an oath of office to perform her duties in compliance with the law before ordering she be jailed until she agrees to grant licenses.

He has upheld the Supreme Court's decision to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide and wrote that the contempt lawsuit would force her to comply with the requirements of her job within United States law.

Unfortunately, Davis' past has been used to represent hypocrisy commonly associated with religious circles.

Davis is a registered Democrat and has worked as a deputy clerk for 27 years before she was elected as a clerk last November. Because she is an elected official, she can only be removed from her position in a vote by state legislators who will not reconvene until January.
