WASHINGTON (Catholic Online) - The President boarded Air Force One earlier today and flew to Denver Colorado where, at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, he signed into law a bill that will inject $787 billion into the economy, attempting to pull the nation out of an economic nosedive.
Initiatives in the bill will address a large number of issues, including economic stimulus to states, health care, renewable energy development and conservation. A $400 tax break for most individual workers and $800 for couples is also a part of the stimulus package.
In his remarks on Tuesday before signing the bill, the President said the stimulus will create jobs "doing what America needs done. We can't build our economic future on the transportation and information networks of the past."
He also stated that he hopes the stimulus "will ignite our imagination once more, spurring new discoveries and breakthroughs that will make our economy stronger, our nation more secure, and our planet safer for our children."
