WASHINGTON, D.C. (Catholic Online) A 76-page FBI affidavit has been filed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation along with Federal charges which allege corruption against Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich and his chief of Staff John Harris.

The allegation maintains that the young Governor (51) along with his Chief of Staff (46) attempted to use their position to influence who was selected to fill the unexpired term of former Senator and now President Elect, Barack Obama.

The Department of Justice has confirmed the arrest of the Illinois Governor this morning. The charges include, but may not be limited to, conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and the solicitation of bribery.

Additional sources indicate that Federal Investigators intercepted the Governor during a court authorized wiretap in the last month. He was allegedly engaged in conversations wherein he was conspiring to sell or trade the Senate seat for personal gain.
