Fr. Pavone of Priests for Life: Judge Brett Kavanaugh
FREE Catholic Classes
"As the nation begins to take a closer look at the nominee that President Trump has chosen for the Supreme Court, it becomes more and more clear that Judge Brett Kavanaugh will be exactly what we need on the Supreme Court at this point in our nation's history," Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, said today.

TITUSVILLE, FL -- "The President made religious freedom a hallmark of his campaign, and when judges stick to the original meaning of the Constitution, that freedom remains intact.
"We at Priests for Life have personal experience of Judge Kavanaugh's approach to religious freedom, because he sided with us when we had to defend our religious freedom in the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Notably, Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and full-time associate with Priests for Life, was one of the petitioners in the Priests for Life case.
"In Priests for Life v. HHS (2015), Judge Kavanaugh voted to block the Obama administration from forcing us to violate our consciences by being complicit in providing abortifacient and contraceptive coverage to our employees. He found it 'crystal clear' that the government mandate was a substantial burden on our exercise of the freedom of religion.
"At a time when these freedoms need more defense than ever, we urge the Senate to conduct a swift and fair confirmation process, focused on the excellent qualifications of Judge Kavanaugh, and not on the politics of personal destruction that the Democrat Left are such experts at carrying out."
