Highlights

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) -- Christian musician Nathan Johnson is also a widowed father. He became both a widow and a father on Tuesday after his wife, Megan, gave birth to a healthy baby girl, Eileen.

The birth was straightforward and without any complications. Megan was able to feed and burp Eileen, and the couple took photos which they shared on social media.

About six hours after Eileen's birth, Meg began to feel sick. He condition deteriorated quickly and doctors rushed to intervene.

When Med was 23, in 2010, she received a heart transplant. The transplant was the result of myocarditis, an inflammation of her heart muscles. Was this causing her to fall ill?

Meg's condition declined faster than doctors could comprehend. Within an  hour, she passed away leaving doctors with many questions and Nathan a widowed father to a newborn baby.

In the wake of her tragic death, doctors were authorized to share her organs. Her donation has helped 52 people to live and see again.

Meg's organs were donated to help 52 others.

Nathan's friends set up a GoFundMe account for Nathan and Eileen, and within 24 hours the fund exceeded $300,000.

Doctors do not think Meg's transplant caused her to pass away suddenly, but it remains a mystery why. In the United States, the maternal death rate is increasing. Today, it is double what it was in 1986, with 800 new mothers for every 100,000, dying within hours or days after giving birth.

The passing of a new mother makes care and nutrition difficult for the baby, as well as puts the father into a single-parent situation. And above all, a mother is deprived of life and the joy of raising her child. There may be no greater tragedy than the death of a mother, aside from the passing of a child.

The Johnson family has faith, and they can rest confident that Meg is with Jesus. We do not always understand why God chooses some women to come home so soon after a joyous occasion. But there is no question that baby Eileen and Nathan have an angel above.

Let us pray for all families.
