LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) -- WikiLeaks said in a tweet on Tuesday, they have released less than one percent of what they have on the CIA.

On Monday, WikiLeaks started its release of "Vault 7," a massive trove of documents that details what tools the CIA has and it does with those tools. The initial leak revealed the CIA is capable of turning televisions and smartphones into microphones, even when they appear to be off. They can also hack medical equipment, causing it to fail and resulting in the death of a patient, a form, of remote assassination.

The CIA denies these technologies are being used on Americans in the United States, but few people believe the denial.

It is thought the documents have been leaked by contractors who worked for the CIA and passed around the files to one another as a form of information sharing. At some point, a contractor may have decided to aggregate and hand over these files to WikiLeaks. This scenario is speculative.

A major hunt is underway to find who is responsible for the leaks. President Trump said he is "extremely concerned" about the CIA security breach. The breach is thought to have occurred in late 2016.

Meanwhile, private firms like Apple whose devices can be used to spy on people, are working on ways to prevent such spying from occurring.

The CIA was also assisted by MI5, the British foreign intelligence service. Together the two spy communities developed advanced hacking techniques and tools. The CIA is probably capable of hacking into any consumer electronic device and hijacking it for their own use.

News of the leaks has not made as much of a splash in the media as the Snowden leaks did. Media attention has been sparse and light on detail. It is possible the federal government is pressuring the media to keep quiet about the leak. But with more to come, the story will not go away anytime soon.
