LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - According to the Daily Mail, the unnamed sister was robbed by Vanessa and Crystal Young, a lesbian married couple who fell on desperate times.
The Quincy police claim Vanessa was holding a knife and approached the sister, who was wearing civilian clothing.
When Vanessa attempted to steal the small bag from the Sister's hand, she said, "I'm not going to hurt you."
When the nun opened the satchel to reveal nothing but prayer beads, a key and a small personal memento, Vanessa told her, "I'll [sic] guess I'll take the rosary beads."
As Vanessa took off, the nun noticed another woman nearby acting as a lookout. When officers used the nun's description of the women, they discovered the muggers on a nearby street.
When officers searched the women, they discovered a small locking knife, six cellphones and a checkbook.
There was no sign of the rosary but three of the phones were discovered to belong to victims of break-ins reported earlier that day.
Vanessa is scheduled for arraignment Monday and faces assault with a dangerous weapon as one of several charges.
Crystal Young has been accused of being a lookout and has been charged with armed robbery and accessory after the fact.
No other facts have been reported on the case.
