'Notices to Disappear': Obama administration ties Border Patrol's hands with NO INTENTION to deport illegal immigrants

'Border Patrol needs to focus its resources towards the worst of the worst.'

Overcrowded prisons or a population filled with illegal immigrants - this is the conundrum the Obama Administration has faced for quite some time. In the end, it was decided that illegal immigrants can be caught, but they must then be released instead of detained and deported.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - According to American Patriot Daily, Obama not only ordered the new catch and release policy, he also demanded any Border Patrol agents who question the illegal would be fired.

Speaking to the House Judiciary Committee, the president of the National Border Patrol Council, Brandon Judd, stated: "With catch and release, the cartels could credibly say to potential customers that they would be able to remain in the United States without fear of deportation as long as they asked for asylum upon being apprehended."

Sound familiar?

Judd admitted "the problem began with unaccompanied minors," with news of everyone being released and minors being detained in the United States spreading like wild fire.

He added, "And once again we are playing catch-up to a problem that in part we created through policy."

To "combat" the illegal immigration problem, Judd explained that Border Patrol agents must catch the immigrants and give them an official document calling for their appearance before "an immigration judge at some future date."

The document, called Notices to Appear (NTA), is usually ignored as illegal immigrants accept them and disappear in the United States. The situation is so bad, Border Patrol Agents refer to them as "Notices to Disappear."

"The latest data that I have seen shows that approximately 40 percent of the individuals being issued NTAs do not show up," Judd stated. "The willful failure to show up for court appearances by persons that were arrested and released by the Border Patrol has become an extreme embarrassment for the Department of Homeland Security."

According to the Washington Times, Judd explained Deputy Secretary Mayorkas said Border Patrol agents were to "focus its resources towards the worst of the worst" by prioritizing who should be deported - but how can this happen if officers are told they will be terminated should they attempt to question an illegal?

"Why would we NTA those we have no intention of deporting? We should not place someone in deportation proceedings, when the courts already have a 3-6 year backlog," Mayorkas told Judd, who explained since their meeting, Border Patrol has "seen no improvements in our enforcement efforts."

The obvious problem is that Border Patrol has its hands tied. They are not allowed to deport anyone but must issue NTAs that will most likely lead to deportation. They are to focus their efforts to the capture of dangerous or wanted criminals, but are not allowed to question anyone they capture.

Despite the difficulties Border Patrol faces, Customs and Border Protection Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske testified to Congress earlier this month to say Judd was "probably not the most knowledgeable organization about what's actually going on," then claimed any agent who was against Obama's policies should "look for another job."
