'Impossible to determine how many of these individuals have actually entered the US'

Director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, Steve McCraw, warned the U.S. was vulnerable in terms of infiltration through the country's southern border. McCraw reported some people coming from countries flagged to have "terrorism presence."

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - During an annual Texas Border Coalition meeting on Sunday, McCraw was asked if anyone suspected of being an ISIS terrorist crossed Mexico's border into the United states, to which he responded, "[I]ndividuals that come across the Texas/Mexican border from countries with a known terrorism presence and the answer to that is yes. We have individuals that we've needed to debrief in Pashto/Dari."

He said there were not many people who could speak the two languages predominant in Afghanistan.

The Texan officer relayed concerns for future attacks and American vulnerabilities, saying, "But you can't think about the last attack; you have to think of the next attack and where our vulnerabilities are. So we're concerned about that."

A declassified report by the DPS was released earlier this year, stating justifications for an increase of police and other surveillance presence along the border. "Operation Strong Safety," initiated by former Texas Governor Rick Perry, which sent extra Texas Troopers to the Rio Grande Valley during the previous year's influx of immigrants, reported the number of people from countries with a "terrorism presence" were encountered.

"An unsecure border with Mexico is the state's most significant vulnerability as it provides criminals and would-be terrorists from around the world a reliable means to enter Texas and the nation undetected. This is especially concerning today, in light of the recent terrorist attacks and schemes around the world.

"Illegal aliens from countries documented by the U.S. Department of State as having a known terrorism presence continue to be smuggled into and throughout Texas and the nation on a regular basis, and it is impossible to determine how many of these individuals have actually entered the U.S. undetected Texas leads the nation in the apprehension of 'special interest aliens' (SIA), and there is a legitimate concern that terrorists from around the world could exploit our country's porous Southwest border to enter the U.S. undetected, if they have not done so already," reported the DPS.

Last July, reporter Joe Biggs showcased the ease in which a person could enter the United States simply by crossing a shallow portion of the Rio Grande River. He dressed in ISIS attire, held an ISIS flag, a rubber "severed head" and a weapon as he crossed the river to show how easily the trek could be made.

The video was recorded near Laredo, Texas and they were able to capture real smugglers swimming to the US while transporting large packages.
