MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Listed below are 5 things to look forward to during his visit:
1. Focus on family and working conditions. The main objective of the pontiff's visit to the celebration of the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia is to focus on the welfare of the family -one of the primary themes. It also embodies the practice of fair compensation, conducive working environment, and proper thinking. According to App.com, Pope Francis in a speech at the Vatican last week said: "Today's work system sometimes shows a dangerous tendency to consider the family as a hindrance, a burden, and a liability for work productivity."
2. An important discussion of poverty and environment. This is in accordance with the Pope's encyclical Laudato Si about global warming and other environmental issues. He is not expected to emphasize on the role of capitalism, but may talk about free-market excesses in his visit. Another highly-anticipated event is his visit to Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility also located in Philadelphia.
3. A call on immigration. The Pope will not mention the controversial Donald Trump's name, but he will undeniably discuss immigration issues and will ask the Americans to be welcoming people owing to the nation's history as a melting pot and beacon of assimilation, as reported by App.com. Expect this to be a main part of his address to the Congress, the first ever to be done by a Pope.
4. Pope Francis' strong mass appeal. It is expected by all that once Pope Francis makes his entrance at New York's Madison Square Garden and Philadelphia's Independence Hall, as well as at the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, he will receive a tremendous welcome by the people.
5. Charismatic crowd interaction. Pope Francis is known as the "Pope of the Masses," as he loves people. He likes making impromptu gestures like stepping out of his Pope mobile to greet the crowd and accept invitations of taking "selfies" with his admirers.
