Neurosurgeon turned killer: New evidence presented in the case of intentional botched surgeries

Bail reduction denied for crooked surgeon.

A neurosurgeon accused of knowingly damaging his patients during surgery was denied bail reduction after his court hearing where prosecutors presented a new evidence. An email found was written and sent by the convicted Christopher Duntsch in December 2011 to an employee, describing the desire to become a killer. Although he had explained during interviews that he was a victim of misunderstanding, the new evidence proves otherwise and has appeased his living victims hoping it will finally put him behind bars.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - "I am ready to leave the love and kindness and goodness and patience that I mix with everything else that I am and become a cold blooded killer," wrote former neurosurgeon Duntsch in the email sent to one of his employees.

According to the Dallas News, authorities state the email proves his mindset months prior to his "intentionally, knowingly and recklessly" messing up of spinal surgeries. His botching of the operations left four people severely injured and one woman, Floella Brown, dead.

After the hearing on Friday, where the email was presented as new evidence, Criminal District Judge Carter Thompson denied Duntsch of bail reduction, keeping it at $600,000. His living victims and their families were relieved after hearing the ruling that keeps him behind bars after his suspected plans of leaving the state after posting bail. They also feared that he may be planning to apply again for a medical license.

"I am very well-pleased that he will remain in jail and that justice will eventually be served for the crimes that he has committed," said Philip Mayfield, 45, who was paralyzed from the neck down since April 2013 after waking up following the surgery conducted by Duntsch on his spine.
