LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The unnamed shooter first stopped at a military recruitment office in a strip mall.
"We heard one pop, one really loud pop. We went to the door and there was several other pops after that and we looked two doors down and we saw the guy in a silver mustang unloading on the recruiter's office," explained witness, Erica Wright to CNN.
"He just pulled up. I didn't think anything of it... He lifted up his arms with a big black gun. It was one shot then it was endless shots, one after another, just unloading," expressed an unidentified man who watched from the parking lot.
After shooting up the recruitment office, the man drove eight miles north to the U.S. Naval Reserve Center and opened fire there, as well. All four of the victims killed were shot in this location, according to Daily Mail.
"There was a barrage of fire once the police officers and everyone got here," Marilyn Hutcheson said to CNN. "They came across and put all of the buildings on lockdown. There was a lot of gunfire going on for quite a while."
During a press conference, following the terrible events, officials insisted there was no longer a risk to the community. They confirmed the shooter was dead, but did not provide details as to if it was a suicide or police intervention.
"Horrific incident in our community. We will release details as they are confirmed. Prayers to all those affected," tweeted Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke.
Reports did not describe the types of weapons used, only that the shooter had multiple weapons with him.
The FBI will conduct further investigations, but the incident is continued to believe domestic terrorism.
UPDATED INFORMATION: According to NBC News, the shooter has now been identified as Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez; a man believed to be a natural born Middle East citizen.
"Lives have been lost from some faithful people who have been serving our country, and I think I join all Tennesseeans in being both sickened and saddened by this," Gov. Bill Haslam said.
