MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - The Black Educators' leader, James Mohammed, confirmed that his group and other affiliated black power groups do have plans for a momentous attendance at the July 18 rally, scheduled for about one month after the Charleston church massacre that took the lives of nine black churchgoers. The massacre was carried out by a white racist, allegedly trying to kindle a race war. James Mohammed and New Black Panther Party leader, Malik Zulu Shabazz, spoke at a Sunday rally in Charleston.
The white power event was also announced earlier this week. According to an automated message on the Loyal White Knights's answering machine, "We will be at the statehouse in Columbia, S.C., standing up for our Confederate history and all the southerners who fought and died against federal tyranny." The white supremacist group is based in Pelham, N.C. and claims affiliation with the KKK.
The message stated, "Our government is trying to erase white culture and our heritage right out of the pages of history books."
The white group "was not welcome," but was unaware of the black group's plans at press time, Gov. Nikki Haley stated.
The New Black Panther Party portrays itself as a rebellious, modern-day manifestation of the black power movement. It commonly participates in armed remonstrations of alleged police brutality. The group was founded in Dallas and is known as a strong racist and anti-Semitic organization whose leaders have strengthened violence against the Jews, law officials and whites.
