350-pound dolphin accidentally lands on cruise ship severely injuring woman
FREE Catholic Classes
To kick off the summer break and celebrate Father's day, a family went aboard a cruise that ended with a traumatizing accident. As the cruise started to sail back to the harbor, a group of dolphins started to swim alongside the boat. However, as the passengers started to cheer for the animals leaping in and out of the water, one of the dolphins accidentally landed inside the boat, crushing into the woman and punching the teenage daughter.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Chrissie Frickman screamed in pain as the 350-pound dolphin flopped around on her legs, breaking both of her ankles, according to The Daily Mail. Her husband, Dirk, pulled her out as the agitated mammal moved around, taking her to the center of the boat, along with their children Courtney, 16, and Tristan, 12. Mr. Frickman drove the boat back and called the harbor police to alert them of the situation.
According to Mr. Frickman, the officer was surprised about what happened to the family, stating, "Oh, my god. I've never seen this before," as they met at the Dana Point Harbor. Harbor police transferred the injured Mrs. Frickman and Courtney to their boat, taking them to an ambulance waiting at the dock.
Mr. Frickman drove back to the waters, after getting some help, to tie up the frantic dolphin, which had splattered a lot of blood from the cuts on its nose and tail.
The dolphin was successfully lifted out of the boat and released back into the harbor waters. Fortunately, it could survive for quite some time out of the water; they managed to keep it okay by consistently pouring water over it. "The dolphin was hopefully saved. It swam away with no problem," he said.
On the other hand, Mrs. Frickman spent five hours in the emergency room with two broken ankles, one with torn ligaments. Nonetheless, she said she was glad the animal landed on her instead of their children.
"That dolphin could have crushed my kids so I'm glad it was me, but we are all completely traumatized!" she posted on Facebook.
