MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - The Census Bureau of the US government has recently shared the current data on the number of racial and ethnic minorities in the US. As reported, the populace of the non-Hispanic white children are now part of the smaller portion of the population, compared to that of the racial and ethnic minorities.

The current American population is changing and starting to become dominated by minority children. According to the data gathered by the Census Bureau, children under the age of five are now composed of the minority group. The number of minority deaths in this age group is also less, according to a study conducted between 2013 and 2014.

A shocking 61,841 deaths of non-Hispanic children have also been reported between 2013 and 2014. With the increase of minority births and an increase in non-Hispanic death shift in the populace, the once believed minority group is indeed bound to dominate the entire US in less than a decade.

Over the past ten years, the US population has become more diverse, with a growing 32.9 percent to 37.9 percent in the number of ethnic and racial minorities.

Part of the current population in the US is composed of the Millennials, taking more than one fourth of the total population of the country. Baby Boomers on the other hand are made up of 75.4 million and have become even more diverse than its earlier generations. The minority group on the other hand is almost close to half of the populace taking 44.2 percent in total.

The populace of Hawaii, District of Colombia, California, New Mexico and Texas are already dominated by minority groups with 77 percent, 64.2 percent, 61.5 percent, 61.1 percent and 56.5 percent respectively. The minority population in Nevada has also grown tremendously to 48.9 percent over the years.

The Census noted that five states have already became majority minority since 2013 to 2014, specifically Russell, Alabama; Newton, Georgia; Eddy, New Mexico; Brazoria, Texas; Suffolk City and Virginia. An earlier report projects that by 2044 more than half of the population in the United States will be made up of the minority group.
