Baltimore bloodshed continues with unbelievable violence over the holiday weekend

Nine people lost their lives and 29 were shot over Memorial Day weekend.

May has proved to be the most dangerous and deadliest month Baltimore has witnessed in more than 50 years. There were more than two dozen shootings over the Memorial Day weekend alone; city police have never been busier. Community leaders hope the members will come forward and contribute in helping to abate and ward off the repulsive violence.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Violence is prominent all around the different areas of the city from West Baltimore, to the East Side, Govans, to Reservoir Hill.

According to the police reports, there was 28 shootings and nine homicides over the Memorial Day Weekend. Additionally, the Baltimore Police, responded to 6 shootings on Friday night, 7 on Saturday, 5 on Sunday and 11 by the evening of Monday.

Of these cases there was an incident, involving a double shooting, where a 9-year-old boy was found shot in the leg.

Investigators are now asking help from witnesses to advance possible strong leads. A surveillance video was just recently released where a person of interest was captured. This person was believed to be a suspect in one of the most recent homicides, particularly the murder that happened along Ducatel Street in the middle of the afternoon right across the street from a busy park.


Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake stated, "My hope is the police will get the support they need from the community to be able to get some answers and bring some of these individual to justice."  

The City Police Commissioner, Anthony Batts, said on the other hand that, "We can't demand that of citizens. We have to go out and earn their trust."
 
According to records, there have been 108 homicides in Baltimore this year. City police are now busy building strong task forces to guard different areas of the city.
