LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - When O'Neill gave an interview on Fox News Channel and the Washington Post, describing his involvement in the raid on the Taliban compound in Pakistan in May of 2011, he revealed classified information.

Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) Public Affairs Officers Ed Buice gave a statement to ABC news where he revealed the details of the investigation.
"The NCIS is in receipt of an allegation that Mr. O'Neill may have revealed classified information to persons not authorized to receive such information," he said. "In response, NCIS has initiated an investigation to determine the merit of the allegations."
The 38-year-old O'Neill damaged the SEALs image as "Silent Professionals" after he admitted to killing bin Laden. Many SEALs on SEAL Team 6 reacted with shock and anger of the breach of security and what they considered glory-seeking.
Others criticized O'Neill for taking credit for something that another SEAL may actually have done, putting the fatal shots into bin Laden.
It is not yet known how long the investigation has been in motion, neither is it known who handed off the case to the NCIS about the classified information.
