America's best hope for 2016 is an old face: Republican's need Romney to run
FREE Catholic Classes
The Republican party is doing a great deal of soul searching ahead of the 2016 presidential election season. It's will be tough finding a candidate that appeals to the small but vocal Tea Party, the aging and reactionary ultraconservatives and the large and growing moderates. The one man who might have been able to unite the Republicans-and had if just briefly a couple years ago-has insisted for the last two years that he has no intention of running again.

Mitt Romney, and those close to him, have begun making noise that a 2016 bid for the White House is not out of the question, and as the last two years of President Obama's term start to wind down, his resolve to re-enter the ring may grow stronger.
Those close to the 2014 Republican presidential nominee have revealed that he is not particularly pleased or confident about the slew of Republicans who have made it clear-officially or not-that they intend to run in 2016.
This is especially worrisome, as it is becoming increasingly clear that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is the likely frontrunner for the Democrat's 2016 ambitions. Clinton enjoys a great deal of support from both liberal and moderate Democrats, and amongst independents is seen as more attractive than the current field of potential 2016 Republican candidates.
Some of the greatest boons that Romney will be able to draw on in 2016 is his nearly prescient level of knowledge about the issues that would face the U.S. from 2012 to 2016. During the 2012 elections, Romney spared with Obama about the rising threat from Russia-which revealed itself by aggressive and violent actions in Ukraine-and the instability that still existed in the Middle East, especially Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan.
Several Wall Street executives met with Romney during his recent trip to New York, and one anonymous source told the Times that they think Romney will run in 2016, and that he himself is confident that third time's the charm.
"I came away from the conversation with the distinct impression that he was running and that he did not think anyone in the field right now was particularly strong.
"it sounded like he felt he could win, and that the country had turned into his direction and he looks at the field and does not see anyone who does not look very beatable."
