This all may have gone unnoticed, except that Gruber became infamous for remarks he made in a video released in early November where he admitted that Obamacare passed because there was a "lack of transparency" and the "stupidity of the American voter."
Gruber has so far received at least $5,886,150 in taxpayer money for his work in crafting the law and his fees for consulting on health care matters in several states.
The National Report Online reported that Gruber made $392,600 from the Department of Health and Human Resources, $103,500 from the Department of State, $1,730,000 from the Department of Justice, $2,050,000 from the National Institutes of Health and a combined $1,673,050 from the states of Minnesota, Vermont, Wisconsin and Michigan.
However, the amount he actually made could be much higher, because this list does not included what he made in fees for consultations in states that didn't make the information public.
Not only did Gruber out-earn the average American, he made significantly more than many top U.S. officials, including President Obama, who made just $400,000 annually during his term as president.
Another video surfaced soon after the first, where Gruber again insulted the American public. In the second video he said that Americans were "too stupid to understand" the workings of the ACA.
In yet other videos, Gruber was seen insulting senior citizens and admitting that Obamacare was designed to "squeeze the states" into compliance.
Since the release of these videos the Democratic party and the Obama administration have tried their best to distance themselves from Gruber. Obama went so far as to call Gruber just "some adviser who never worked on our staff.
But available records speak to the contrary. They show that Gruber was indeed present at many meetings about Obamacare at the White House, and that he personally advised the president on the bill, and even had his analysis of the new health care law featured on the White House's website.
