LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - A statement released by his family says he died peacefully.
Bradbury wrote across the genres including science-fiction, mystery, and humor. He also wrote for Hollywood, composing scripts for the "Twilight Zone." Bradbury's two most popular works were perhaps the Martian Chronicles and Fahrenheit 451. The Martian Chronicles served as a morality tale about the Cold War and Fahrenheit 451 was a tale set in the future where books are outlawed in favor of television.
Bradbury wrote over 50 books and hundreds of short stories, poems, essays, and scripts.
According to an article on CNN, Bradbury was quoted as saying, ""In my later years I have looked in the mirror each day and found a happy person staring back. Occasionally I wonder why I can be so happy. The answer is that every day of my life I've worked only for myself and for the joy that comes from writing and creating. The image in my mirror is not optimistic, but the result of optimal behavior."
Bradbury lived and worked for most of his life in Los Angeles. He leaves behind a family of four daughters and eight grandchildren. Bradbury now joins his wife, Marguerite, who passed away in 2003. He also leaves a tremendous legacy of fiction and commentary for future generations to ponder and enjoy.
