Pro-Life Victory: Susan B. Komen for the Cure Defunds Planned Parenthood

Susan G. Komen for the Cure does wonderful work. They should be commended for their decision to stop funding Planned Parenthood

When Planned Parenthood receives a grant or a subsidy, it may argue that it uses that particular money for a purpose other than the taking of innocent life, but the argument is a ruse. The very fact that the money came in allows other funds to be used for providing abortions. It is a deadly shell game. Planned Parenthood is built on a lie. Komen for the Cure has done what is right.

P>WASHINGTON, DC (Catholic Online) - The media reports were everywhere. The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation - which does wonderful work for women who suffer with breast cancer - will no longer fund Planned Parenthood, the Nation's largest provider of abortions.

Komen gave over half a million dollars to Planned Parenthood this year alone. The money was supposed to be used for the noble purpose of breast cancer screening and breast health services.

Planned Parenthood cried foul. They blamed the decision by the Susan B Komen Foundation on "anti-abortion activists". In other words, people like us. The ones who accept the truth that the child in the womb is our neighbor. People who reject the profane idea that killing our first neighbors can ever be a "right" since it is always wrong to take innocent human life. 

The spokeswoman for Komen indicated that the Charity has an organizational policy that it cannot give grants to organizations which are under investigation by local, state or federal authorities. That means Planned Parenthood. It is the subject of a Congressional investigation for using tax payer funds for abortion services.

Every organization which receives recognition of tax exemption from the IRS under Section 501 c 3 has to file a Form 990. Planned Parenthood is recognized as a non-profit organization and pays no taxes. In addition, contributions made to it are tax deductible. In 2010, Planned Parenthood performed or funded nearly 330,000 abortions. That means that 330,000 of our neighbors are dead as a result of money given to this organization.

On Wednesday June 16, 2010 Pro-Life elected Representatives and Leaders held a press Conference where they released an audit report from the Government Accountability Office. The Audit was requested by 31 lawmakers who wanted to know how many Federal Tax dollars have been given to groups which advocate for the killing of children in the womb by intentional abortion.

The results were staggering. Taxpayers have given these groups over 1 billion dollars over the period of 2002 - 2009, through Federal funding.

Here are the groups which promote abortion or provide abortion: Advocates for Youth,  $8.7 million (2002-2009); the Guttmacher Institute, $12.7 million (2002-2008); International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), $93.8 million (2002-2009); Planned Parenthood Federation of America, $657.1 million (2002-2008); Population Council of the United States, $284.3 million (2002-2008); Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS), $1.6 million (2002-2009).

These figures do not include additional State and Federal funding. The GAO report disclosed that its own Audit report "may understate the actual amount of federal funds the selected organizations and their affiliates spent."  This is huge business, this promotion of the profane notion that taking the life of a child in the womb is a matter of "reproductive health".

I can anticipate the uproar in the camp of those who oppose the Right to Life of our youngest neighbors. I have heard it all before. The most common effort to justify the funding of this nefarious organization goes something like this, "Not all of the funds go to abortion". However, one of the first things a law student learns in Law School is something which should be obvious, money is fungible. In other words, it is interchangeable.

So, when an organization like Planned Parenthood receives a grant,or a subsidy, it may argue that it uses that particular money for a purpose other than the taking of innocent life, but the argument is a ruse. The very fact that the money came in allows other funds to be used for providing abortions. It is a deadly shell game.

Planned Parenthood is built on a lie. They dress themselves up as a "Health Care Provider" and include the taking of the lives of innocent children in the womb as a "service" under their offering of "reproductive services".

They have insinuated themselves into the global delivery of "medical services" and receive massive government funding as this report confirms. Included in these purported "medical services"  is  the killing of children in the womb through intentional abortion.

In the introduction to their glossy 2007-2008 annual report they claimed, "Planned Parenthood is the leading sexual and reproductive health care advocate and provider, with 93 years under our belt. And in the near future, we will play a unique role in helping to shape the health agenda for the new administration."

Their 2009- 2010 report confirmed they had achieved that goal. The Obama Administration is their partner. In the opening pages of the latest report they take credit for helping to "shape and pass the Affordable Care Act"

Their web site tells visitors they are "America's most trusted provider of reproductive health care" Yet, there is nothing "reproductive" about abortion - and it is certainly not a service to the child, the mother, the father or society.

Planned Parenthood should be defunded by the Federal Government. Authentic Health Care Providers who truly provide health care services which respect the fundamental human right to life should receive their funding and compete with them at every level.

Planned Parenthood charges women, many of whom have been deceived and are themselves the second victims, for killing their own children. The "medical professionals" use surgical strikes, brutal suction or what they euphemistically now call a "medication abortion" (chemical weapons) to cause their death. Then, they are paid for the evil act with tax dollars.

Every procured abortion is the intentional taking of innocent human life in the first home of the whole human race.

Every person alive today began their human life in that sanctuary of life, the womb. No one with any integrity or genuine moral sensibility any longer claims that the child in the womb, whom we now surgically operate on and can see clearly in 4D images, is not a human being.

The argument being made to try and justify this killing of our youngest neighbors is the perverse idea that "freedom" enables the one with more power to hire a so called "medical professional" to reach inside the sanctuary of the womb and take the life of a vulnerable and innocent child. Of course, we would not make the same argument about a one year old child living outside of the womb, in the nursery.

However, there is no moral distinction between what Planned Parenthood does and the intentional killing of a child outside of the womb. In addition, the time thresholds of "viability" under the inane structure forced upon us by the Supreme Court's Roe and Doe decisions keep getting pushed back as our technology reveals the truth about our smallest neighbors.

Science has confirmed what our consciences have known all along, every procured abortion kills a child, a neighbor, a human person. Killing is not health care.

Our positive law has rejected the Natural Law Right to Life and its prohibition against these intentional homicides committed against our youngest neighbors through procured abortions. Until the positive law is changed to reflect the truth, Organizations like Planned Parenthood engage in this evil without any repercussions. However, our tax dollars must no longer be used to engage in this evil.

Susan B. Komen for the Cure does wonderful work. They should be commended for their decision to stop funding Planned Parenthood. Now, the US Government should follow their example.
