Little girl looking Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. Abortion is the Greatest Destroyer of Peace: Bullying Begins in the Womb

This evil behavior is protected by the positive law and enforced by the police power of a State which has lost its soul.

Bullying begins in the womb. There, in the first home of the human race, children are brutally bullied to death. An entire class of persons relegated to the status of personal property can be disposed of for any reason by those more powerful. Mother Teresa was right, "Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching the people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. ...I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child."

P>CHESAPEAKE, VA. (Catholic Online) - No matter where you look these days there is a news report, commentary, study or conference on the growing National epidemic of bullying.  One television network recently aired a multi-platform series on bullying. The National Education Association released statistics in 2010 indicating that every day 160,000 children miss school out of fear of some form of bullying, verbal, physical or cyber-bullying.

Bullying is a real problem, but it is not a new phenomenon. It does appear to be on the increase and concern over bullying is legitimate. I have raised five children and now have six grandchildren.  I have had to deal with the horrible effects of bullying in my effort to be a good father and grandfather. However, I am disturbed by some of the "solutions" being bandied about by "experts" in efforts to deal with the growing problem.

The cry for more federal dollars to develop programs to stamp out this increase in violence through an outside-in fix will not suffice. Bullies are bred. Bullying is a symptom and not a disease. I contend there is a connection between abortion on demand and the increase of bullying. We have lost the sense of the dignity of every human person as an unrepeatable gift from God. People are now objects of use, property not persons.  This is a root of bullying and contributes to the growth of this behavior.

The Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church (#132), citing sources from the Magisterium,  offers these insightful words: "A just society can become a reality only when it is based on the respect of the transcendent dignity of the human person. The person represents the ultimate end of society, by which it is ordered to the person: "Hence, the social order and its development must invariably work to the benefit of the human person, since the order of things is to be subordinate to the order of persons, and not the other way around"

"Respect for human dignity can in no way be separated from obedience to this principle. It is necessary to "consider every neighbor without exception as another self, taking into account first of all his life and the means necessary for living it with dignity". Every political, economic, social, scientific and cultural program must be inspired by the awareness of the primacy of each human being over society."

Some other insightful words were presented at the 1994 National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC, by Mother Teresa. They desperately need to be heard in this hour. She spoke from a podium where her small stature could barely be seen. However, it was the power of those words which caused the assembly of powerful people, including then President Bill Clinton, to sit in silence:

"I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child - a direct killing of the innocent child - murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion?

"As always, we must persuade her with love, and we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts. Jesus gave even his life to love us. So the mother who is thinking of abortion, should be helped to love - that is, to give until it hurts... her plans, or her free time, to respect the life of her child. The father of that child, whoever he is, must also give until it hurts.

"By abortion, the mother does not learn to love, but kills even her own child to solve her problems.
And by abortion, the father is told that he does not have to take any responsibility at all for the child he has brought into the world. That father is likely to put other women into the same trouble. So, abortion just leads to more abortion. Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching the people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. That is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion".

Bullying begins in the womb. There, in the first home of the human race children are brutally bullied to death. They cannot be heard in their resistance.  An entire class of persons relegated to the status of personal property can be disposed of for any reason by those more powerful. They are our first neighbors in the first home of the whole human race. They are killed by chemicals and surgical strikes and evicted from their homes. This evil behavior is protected by the positive law and enforced by the police power of a State which has lost its soul.

Over the years news accounts out of India have confirmed the practice of prenatal selection and selective abortions being performed on girl children. This practice involves the use of ultrasounds to locate these girls in the first home of the womb and then guide their selective killing through various abortion procedures. There has been a global outcry against this horror and rightly so. However, this same procedure is now used in the United States.

In the words of now Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, "Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching the people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. ...I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child." It is time to get to the root of bullying. It begins in the womb.
