UPDATED: Shooting at University of Alabama. Three Dead. Woman Shooter in Custody

The shooter is in police custody. In addition, Huntsville police Sergeant Jack Pugh has indicated in a recent report that an unknown man was also in police custody.

HUNTSVILLE, AL (Catholic Online) - Updated A biology professor, Amy Bishop, 42, has been charged in the shootings which took place at a faculty meeting discussing her tenure and left three dead and three wounded. The three killed were Gopi K. Podila, the chairman of the Department of Biological Sciences, and two other faculty members, Maria Ragland Davis and Adriel Johnson.

Three others people were wounded in the gunfire, two critically. They were identified as department members Luis Cruz-Vera, who is in fair condition, Joseph Leahy and staff member Stephanie Monticello, both in critical condition in intensive care.

Bringing back to mind the horrors of Virginia Tech in 2007, much of America is glued to the computer screen, the television or even listening to their car radio, hoping to get more details on the unfolding events in Huntsville, Alabama.

On the campus of the University of Alabama, three people,have been killed by an unknown woman shooter.

What is known so far is that a female shooter killed three people in the University of Alabama's Shelby Center, the Engineering Building on campus.

The Huntsville Times is reporting that a student named Erin Johnson indicated to their reporter that a biology faculty meeting was underway when she first heard the screams from across the hall.

Reports vary as to the number of injured. Some reports indicate only one. However, others indicate two.

The shooter is in police custody. In addition, Huntsville police Sergeant Jack Pugh has indicated in a recent report that an unknown man was also in police custody.

No motive for this horrific shooting has yet been reported. The entire campus is in lockdown.

Ray Garner, a University spokesman who has been handling media, indicated he had no information on the victims.
