WASHINGTON (Catholic Online) - Carrie Prejean will retain her title as Miss California. In a press conference at Trump Tower in New York City on Tuesday, Donald Trump, who owns the Miss USA Pageant, announced his decision.

Miss California Carrie Prejean will keep her crown, Miss USA pageant owner Donald Trump announced at a press conference Tuesday at Trump Tower in New York City.

Regarding the photos of Prejean during her teenage years, Trump said, "We are in the 21st century ... and Carrie is a model, she's a very successful model, we have determined and we have the absolute right under the contract we have determined that the pictures taken are fine."

Regarding her answer to the loaded question regarding gay marriage from pageant judge Perez Hilton (no relation to the famed Hilton family), Trump stated that she gave a very honest answer, in fact, it was the same answer given by the President of the United States.

Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira, is an openly gay blogger from Hollywood who was verbally disrespectful regarding Prejean on his video blog soon after the pageant because she affirmed the model of marriage as only between a man and a woman.

It was not long after that when modeling photos of Prejean began to surface.

Miss California was present at the press conference and thanked Trump for believing in her. She also said, "Most importantly, I would like to thank God."

Just one day before Trump's announcement, California pageant officials appointed Tami Farrell, Prejean's runner-up, as "Beauty of California Ambassador", indicating that she would fulfill any duties that the current Miss California would not be able to carry out. They also indicated, however, that the final decision regarding the California crown would be up to Donald Trump.

There has been no official word as yet from the Miss California USA office on his decision.
